Richard Jessop, ex S.A.S.Captain and founder of the Four Seas Agency, is hired by Sir George Fredericks, a diamond trader and financier. Fredericks is less than truthful and Jessop is involved in an adventure in which the kidnap of the banker’s illicit granddaughter is only a minor incident

Jessop’s enquiries bring him up against an old enemy, “Lurcher.” Only his service expertise —and his luck— stop him losing his life at the bottom of a water filled quarry. He has to resort to drastic illegal measures to resolve the conflict, preserve his employer’s reputation, and save the life of his future wife.
